Me In The Community.

To say I had a hard knock life and then wanted to invest in people like me would be an over statement. My life was average with a few bumps and bruises along the way. My mother was a single mother of two daughters. She demonstrated sacrifice, courage, and giving to others on a constant basis. My mother and Granny were the first philanthropists I ever met. I always witnessed them helping others and sharing their treasures and gifts without expectation of anything in return.

My heart to serve started when I wanted to always help others be the best version of themselves outwardly. I soon learned the outward appearance of glamour and glitz was temporary, but inner beauty was everlasting. Self-love and confidence building were my stepping stones into teaching inner beauty and personal  development.

After a casual conversation with a close friend, LaShonda Pierce, I.C.O.N. Women’s Organization was established to address the needs of our local community. With a mission to elevate and educate women and youth, the organization steps forth with a dynamic presence in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area. We have long lasting and successful mentoring partnerships with Star of Hope, YWCA, and Northwest Assistance Ministries offering bi-monthly mentoring sessions to teens, mothers, and women in transitional facilities. Our members partner with the Forge for Families to tutor participants. I.C.O.N. P.E.A.R.L.S. is a subsidiary of I.C.O.N. catering to girls between the ages of 5-18 years old centered around developing the whole girl through community service, character development, and empowerment.
